This module has helped me think about using standards, CFQ's, or formative assesment in the following ways . . .
Students are very interested in "life questions." As long as you are able to keep them on focus, I think introducing a unit question (the overarching one) could really be a great jumpstart to many of your units. Also, I think that formative assessment is SUPER important. I've really enjoyed learning new ways to assess, since my typicals are tests/quizzes. I'm excited to try a KWL chart in a math classroom and see how the students respond.

In working with collorborative efforts with your students, if you had the right group of students and access to plenty of computers, you could have the students blogging with one another about whatever topic they are studying at that time. They could also do peer reviews (with parent permission of course) online. Math often doesn't lend itself to research; however, you could incorporate little sections throughout the year about research (maybe on the person who has created or developed the topic you are working with) to slowly prepare the students to use all reserach topics involved for a large end of the year project

Students demonstrated the 21st century skills including (but not limited to):Making complex choices and decisions, assuming shared responsibility for collaborative work, and accessing information efficiently and effectively, evaluating information critically and competently and using information accurately and creatively for the issue or problem at hand.
The student sample on the 2nd slide makes an effort to answer the essential question, by discussing how they are going to be affecting the future. The presentation also includes answers to the unit and content questions throughout.Specifically identifying equations necessary to produce the type of graph that is the goal of the project.By having the implications slide, the group members specifically target in on the unit questions about the long term effects.
The students were given a presentation to do as well as the choice of a wiki or newsletter.Allowing all of these options to be a part of the groups’ overall work, it allows individuals in the group to focus in on what they do well and can be SUPER creative. The teacher gave the students some specific direction (online website) on where to gather their data and I think that this would increase productivity since the students would not be traveling to irrelevant sites.
